Zeki Fryers was in a positive up-beat mood after the first training session under new Head Coach Mauricio Pochettino.

“Training’s going well, it’s been good and I like the set-up. It’s been hard, sharp, but that’s positive. Pre-season is always hard but all the lads are doing well.

“We have all come back fresh and it’s good to see everyone again. It was a nice break but we’re all ready to put in the work now and get back into things.

“I can’t wait for the games to come – hopefully I’ll feature in some. We’ll just have to see how things go.”

Liverpool like to bid on Tottenham targets presumably because they employ the man who created the statistical model Tottenham use to assess players potential.

There are thoughts that Liverpool have offered Swansea £2 million (€2.51m) above Tottenham for Swansea left-back Ben Davies and with Tottenham being linked to French international winger Antoine Griezmann, Liverpool are now said to be preparing a £20 million bid  (€25.13m).

Real Sociedad have rejected two bids from Arsenal in the last year for the 23 year-old winger who has refused a contract extension. His current contract runs out in 2016 and he has made it clear he wants to leave and will not sign another.

Juan Camilo Zúñiga has been offered security from the Colombian Football Federation following threats he has received for the foul Neymar that fractured his third vertebrae.

“The Colombian Football Federation rejects all threats and insults against the player Camilo Zuniga and his family,” the national body said in a statement.

“It reiterates it will continue taking all actions with the appropriate security and government organs to give the necessary guarantees to the player, for both his time in Colombia and his permanent residency in Italy.”

Zúñiga plays in Italy for Napoli who have said he does not deserve the “ferocious criticism” he has received for an “unfortunate … but not malicious” incident.

USA and Seattle Sounders right-back, 21 year-old DeAndre Yedlin is now wanted by Inter Milan and Napoli. Roma have offered to buy him for £2.36 million (€3m) and loan him back for a season.

Napoli wish to buy him and loan him to another Italian club. Teams in France and Spain are interested as well as Liverpool. He is certainly someone we should be considering signing to help our American profile, even if we do then loan him out to gain first-team experience.

Xavi has now cancelled his proposed deal to Al Arabi in favour of a move to New York City it seems.

The 34 year-old signed a pre-contract with Al-Arabi SC worth £6.37 million (€8m) per six months. Nevertheless, last-minute complications with Al-Arabi have halted the negotiations.

Catalan radio station Catalunya Radio report the Major League side have been monitoring the player's situation for a while as they are keen on bringing him to New York.

Mundo Deportivo report that Louis Van Gaal approached the Spanish international about a possible move to Old Trafford. It is reported that Xavi however no longer wants to play at the top level feeling himself mentally and physically tired.
