First a quick resume of a few recent articles you may have missed.

Group A continues today with Brazil vs Mexico at 8pm UK time so here is a quick round-up of the games from a Tottenham interest perspective, players, former players, transfer targets, former targets.

Former Arsenal player Patrick Vieira was rather forceful on TV with his view that Players Should Cheat in an attempt to get an opponent booked or sent off. A disgusting attitude to be teaching all the children watching.

Former Tottenham player Clint Dempsey scored the 5th Fastest Goal at any World Cup Finals Goal. You can see it on the link above. An article tonight will list the 10 Fastest World Cup Final Goals and amazingly 4 of them have come in 2 tournaments and 3 have been scored on 16th June!

Tottenham teenager Nabil Bentaleb recalls the words of former Tottenham centre-back and former French captain William Gallas to help him keep his feet on the ground following his rapid rise from Development Squad to the World Cup in 6 months.

Right on with the days Tottenham News Shorts.

A picture doing the rounds on social media suggests Tottenham are at home to newly promoted Leicester City on the opening day of the season. The official fixture list is out tomorrow so we'll know for certain then.

Tottenham have Schalke 04 left-back Saed Kolašinac on their list of [possible left-back transfer targets and Tottenham will play Schalke 04 in a pre-season friendly on Saturday August 9th at 5.30pm. Kolašinac unfortunately scored an own goal in the first ever game for Bosnia-Herzegovina at a World Cup Finals when the ball struck him on the knee and went in early in the 2-1 defeat to Argentina.

It will be a chance for Spurs fans to also see former striker target Klaas-Jan Huntelaar and Kevin Prince-Boateng who played 2 season at White Hart Lane before moving to the slower paced football of Italy which suited his game better.

Former Tottenham winger David Bentley tells Adam Lallana he should join Liverpool and not Tottenham. That of course may have something to do with the fact that Bentley was more interested in his bar and collecting his wages than actually improving his football, an attitude that didn't impress Harry Redkapp.

Hull City would like to sign left-back Danny Rose and still retain an interest in Jake Livermore even though they are not prepared to pay £6.5 million for him. They are also interested in getting Michael Dawson on the cheap.

Manchester United are at the head of the queue to sign Fredy Guarín who only signed a new contract with Inter in March. Clearly that was to keep his transfer value intact. The reported fee £18 million seems excessive.

Tottenham have been watching 20 year-old Moses Odubajo of Leyton Orient for over a year now and are said to be preparing to bid for the player. West Ham United and Hull City are also after the player who will stay unless substantial money is paid says manager Russell Slade.

“Unless someone has got a big pile of money, he will be staying. A very big pile.”

Sounds like talk to try and boost the price, it's a fact of life lower league clubs have to develop players and sell them to survive.

Former Tottenham right-back Pascal Chimbonda is a free agent and looking for a move back to France. Now 35 he spent most of last season at Carlisle United. He has i international cap but doesn't rule out playing for France again.

“France is my priority. If I can find a good project with a good environment at a French club, I would favour such a choice. I am fit and still have the desire.”

Newcastle United winger Hatem Ben Arfa wants to play for a club with European football so for some reason London24 link him with Tottenham who need a winger apparently.
