Lovren emails Saints a transfer request

The Daily Mail suggest that Tottenham target Dejan Lovren has handed in a transfer request to Southampton.

He is said to have emailed the club that outlines his stance and desire to play Champions League football next season. That would put Liverpool in the driving seat ahead of ourselves.

He emailed executive director Les Reed and chairman Ralph Krueger on May 30 but amazingly has not even received the common courtesy of a reply, even one that just acknowledges receipt.

The 24 year-old sites the changing of manager as another reason behind his desire to leave which gives some hope that he could still choose to join Tottenham, which would it seem be against Southampton's wishes.

Liverpool and Tottenham are not the only two clubs interested in the centre-back who met with Southampton officials at the season. There is a host of players who want to leave the south coast club with Pochettino having left and the ability to earn higher wages elsewhere.

Tottenham want Jay Rodriguez but as he is injured at the moment will not be signing him this window unless Southampton were to virtually give him away, which they certainly aren't going to do.

Adam Lallana, Luke Shaw, Rodriguez, Lovren all want to join Ricky Lambert in seeking more profitable pastures.

The Rodriguez injury is possibly a blessing in disguise as they may well now be able to keep hold of him for another season.
