Spurs keeping tabs on Chelsea left-back Ryan Bertrand
Ryan Bertrand is a left-back option Spurs are considering as he can't get any game time at Chelsea.
Last season he was loaned out to Aston Villa in January and was considered a good prospect for a few years now but still seems miles away from the Chelsea first team, despite playing in and winning the Champions League Final for them. With deep pockets Chelsea simply go out and buy established players leaving the youngsters with little chance to break through.
Zeki Fryers is considered to be more of a centre-back option for Tottenham and he would challenge Danny Rose for a starting berth immediately. With the heavy demands of the Europa League there are plenty of fixtures to rotate the two so being home grown with Premier League experience and only 24 year-old he could be a attractive option.
His wages are around £40,000 a week spoke recently that he wants to play and will be discussing his future this summer.
He would cost the same as Rose would now, in the region of £5-8 million having made 17 Premier League appearances and 2 League Cup games, 1,629 minutes in total.

“I’ll go back to Chelsea in the summer and if they want me to play then that would be great. Should it be other options, I suppose the ball is in their court.
“It’s something we’ll sit down and talk about in the summer. At this stage in my career I need to be playing. I don't want to be sat on the bench next season, so that is something we will discuss in the summer.
“For me personally I feel I’m more than ready. I deserve the chance to play there consistently, having had the experiences that I have done under numerous managers.
“I’ve learnt from some of the best players at the highest level. The likes of Didier, JT, Lamps, Ash directly in my position. I feel it’s my time. I'm 24, I'm looking forward to getting settled for the first time.
“I’ve had a taste of what it’s like to be at the top, to win things. I’ve won the Champions League already. I’ve played for England a couple of times, in a crucial qualifying game (against Ukraine) as well.
“Playing for your country is the pinnacle. To have that side of success and know what it takes, that’s where I want to be, what I want to get more of.
“The Champions League final is something I don't want people to forget, I've played at the highest level, had success at the highest level.
“But, personally, I don't want to rest on my laurels, I've got the taste for it and it's something I want to actively pursue it. I want to get the taste for it again.”
