Sandro - Dressing room has not been happy

Sandro has revealed that the Tottenham dressing roo has not been a happy one in the second half of the season but contradicts himself when he now says he doesn't know if Tim Sherwood is leaving.

"Andre was one who would always speak very closely to most of the squad one on one, whereas Tim does most of his talking during training on the side of the pitch rather than afterwards individually with players.

"The dressing-room atmosphere hasn't been a buoyant one in the second half of the season. But for people to suggest we already know what will happen to the manager in the summer is wide of the mark. We only see what the media report."

That contradicts what Sandro said recently that he knew Tim Sherwood was leaving at the end of the season and that other clubs are bidding for him but not enough money.

“He (Tim Sherwood) will leave at the end of the season. Then, new coach, new everything.

“I do not know anything yet, but I’m happy to have my name talked about with a club the size of Sao Paulo. Anyway, it would be very difficult to leave on loan from here [Tottenham].

“If I was to leave, it would have to be permanently and it is not close. Other teams have come, however, with little money. President (Daniel Levy) negotiates every transfer, this was the case for [Gareth] Bale had the case, it is not easy.”

Sandro who has missed out on the Brazil World Cup squad in his home country this summer also reveals that top four was the pre-season aim. He goes on to say the season has been a disappointment and Spurs have been poor against the top four.

"Overall, it's been a slightly disappointing season because, at Tottenham Hotspur, we set our standards very, very high. Our minimum aim is to finish in the top four and unfortunately this year we haven't been able to achieve it.

"We've played well in patches and overall we've played well against teams that are below us in the table. But unfortunately our results against the top four weren't good enough.

"This has been a frustrating aspect to the season and something we know we have to improve on if we are going to be competing to win the league."

Sandro joined Tottenham on 18th August 2010 and played his first game with reserves and youth players in a League Cup tie against Arsenal. Despite the defeat at White Hart Lane that night he looked a quality player who needed time to adapt and learn the language.

Around christmas he started to then build his Spurs career as soon developed into a fans favourite.

In January 2013 he had to have a knee operation which kept him out for the rest of the season and this has been a disappointing season for him personally, not reaching his usual level of performance often enough. He has figured in only 16 Premier League games, 7 Europa League games and a League Cup tie.

A rest and a complete pre-season, which he missed last season, should see him return to his previous levels next season and become one of the first names on the team sheet again.
