Negredo to Spurs
An interesting story given are perennial problem with strikers, well strikers scoring goals to be more precise.
We lost Jermain Defoe to Toronto FC and Roberto Soldado didn't produce the goods for whatever reason. The bottom line is goals. Harry Kane played at the end of the season and bagged 3 premier League goals in just 7 games, a good start and a useful addition to the squad but another proven goalscorer is needed for strength in depth.
Manchester City are offloading players once again and while we have been mentioned for a whole host of them, Hart, Barry, Milner, Richards, Lescott none are goalscorers.
Another name to add to that list is one of our former targets Alvaro Negredo who like Soldado has struggled in the Premier League. In 32 appearances he has netted 9 goals. In all his stats don't look so bad, 49 appearances, 23 goals, but 9 of those were in 9 domestic cup games.
Life started well, he knocked in goals but hasn't scored a Premier League goal since 12th January and only scored one league goal since Christmas. There is nothing public to suggest Man City are willing to let him go, having only bought him for £16.4 million +add ons last summer, but he wouldn't be the first player to be unhappy sitting on the Manchester City bench.

Franco Baldini will make enquiries to sound out the player and see if the opportunity at Spurs appeals to him as his salary in 2013 was only £75,000 a week (£3.9 million a year).
The 6'1" (1.86m) 28 year-old Spanish international who has 10 goals in 21 games for his country would provide cover for Emmanuel Adebayor and keep him on his toes.
Soldado is a different type of striker and gives us options up front unless he moves on with Atletico Madrid interested in buying him but only if they can have him for £20 million. That would however mean us buying two new strikers and we struggled enough to get one over the last few years.
