King - Nucleus of a good squad

Tottenham Hotspur fans saluted Ledley King on his testimonial night against the current Spurs squad so not only has he seen them train but he has now played against them.



King is undertaking his coaching badges, which can be a long process if done correctly as Brad Friedel pointed out especially when he has other roles within the club. The Tottenham legend is a club ambassador and works with the Tottenham Hotspur Foundation within the local community.

Having been at Spurs his whole career he has seen the high and lows, knows the club inside out and knows the quality of player it takes to succeed. Having seen the players first hand he is not expecting wholesale changes this summer, feeling the squad is basically already there but under performing.

“We are not far away as a team but we are still not sure what’s going to happen over the summer. We don’t need wholesale changes, we have the nucleus of a good squad.

“There are some good young players who can develop into real talent. The club is on the way up and we have to reassess things again after the last year or two due to the manger changes but we are not far away.

“We need to keep our form, our league position and not drift far away and hopefully strengthen.

“The new players have had a season in the premiership and that gives us some optimism going into next year.”
