Kaboul is a dilemma for Spurs

Tottenham have been actively looking for new centre-backs with injury problems for the last two years decimating our defence.

Kaboul is a dilemma for Spurs

Jan Vertonghen may be leaving depending upon who we appoint at Head Coach and Younes Kaboul has been a shadow of the player we enjoyed for one season.

Harsh decisions have to be made in football and keeping Kaboul in the hope he will return to the form he showed in the season before his injury would be a gamble.

His contract expires in a year so after next season he would be able to leave on a free transfer, not an ideal situation. The best option it would seem is to sell him now and bring in a new player to replace him.

Michael Dawson and Vlad Chiriches look set to stay but we would be needing four centre-backs so it's a tough call to make without knowing the future of Vertonghen. Replacing two centre-backs would be another gamble and can we really afford to be doing that when Chiriches has struggled.

West Ham United are showing interest in the 28 year-old Frenchman as they search for a non nonsense centre-back of their own. Whichever new manager we bring in it seems we will be needing ball playing centre-backs and while he is OK on the floor he does give the impression of a bull in a china shop at times.

Do we sell one centre-back, do we lose two, we can't possible change three but quite frankly on last seasons performance you'd find it hard to argue against changing all four!
