Benitez could be keen on Spurs
The papers are having a speculation period, guessing Daniel Levy is going cold on Frank de Boer when in fact he is in Indonesia on a post season tour with Ajax, not returning until May 17.
Add to that that there isn't actually a position to fill at Tottenham yet and their hands are thus tied until there is, the press are keeping the managerial story boiling by suggesting Mauricio Pochettino and Roberto Martinez are being considered instead.
Spanish football expert, Begona Perez, claims that former Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez would welcome a return to the Premier League. Of course he is not a new name thrown into the melting pot, it has been widely reported he wants to come back to England.
Personally I don't doubt his views are right, everything being spoken does indicate despite qualifying for Champions League football and only a year into a rebuilding project at Napoli, the Premier League is where he wants to be.
As Frank de Boer said recently Italian football is in rapid decline, there Champions have made little progress in the Champions League recently. The Premier League has the draw of being the most watched league in the world so anyone involved gets far more worldwide exposure.
It's only natural to want to be a part of that at a club with the potential to be challenging for trophies. However I just don't see it, he doesn't strike me as the kind of guy to jump ship after a season.
Unsurprisingly former Liverpool favourite Jamie Carragher thinks Spurs should go and get him. He recently wrote in his Daily Mail column:
His pragmatic style of play is the only stumbling block with the board room and the fans wanting entertaining football. He is another winner but after the dire football served up under Andre Villas-Boas Tottenham would be reluctant to appoint another boss who would serve up similar fare, even if it would probably be more successful.
