Aaron Lennon should stay at Spurs
The annual transfer speculation surrounding Aaron Lennon is upon us again and as usual I can't see any reason to dispense with his services yet.
If Pochettino is to be the Head Coach he likes players with pace. A winger getting back and doing defensive duties plus fast high pressing are important elements in his philosophy.
Andros Townsend has yet to develop into his potential, Erik Lamela has yet to produce the goods and Nacer Chadli did nothing as a wide man in the Premier League. To get rid of your one proven performer, especially one with such a good understanding with Kyle Walker would be counter productive.
All Lennon needs is a manager who will play a system that suits his pace, a slow pedestrian build up is useless for him and explains why he has not hit the heights some supporters expect.
West Ham and Sunderland are the two clubs interested this time around but his cost would no doubt be prohibitive if Townsend was quoted at £10 million to clubs last summer.
If he were to be made available there would be a string of clubs after his signature with Liverpool recently having been linked with him as they look to build a bigger squad to cope with the demands of the Champions League next season. David Moyes was said to want to take him to Old Trafford as well so in football circles his worth is known.

There is talk of James Milner leaving Manchester City in search of first team football bit I certainly wouldn't be in a rush to swap Lennon for Milner especially given his wages would be higher than Lennon's.
Whether fans like it or not that has to be a consideration in any deal as we simply don't have the income teams like Man City have. The Premier League champions broke Financial Fair Play rules and have negotiated a settlement that they say with have no effect on them.
Teams all knew the Financial Fair play rules so Man City and PSG should have been thrown out of the Champions League next season for failing to comply the way everyone else has had to do. Unfortunately UEFA bottled it again. What is the point of having rules if you don't enforce them.
