Would you want a Manchester City style owner?
For the first time in ages, our board have taken a conservative stance on the transfer market. Thus far, no £15+ million players have signed up. Looking back at what £15+ million has got us in the past, this may be a good thing.
The transfer market has gone a bit off the rails and even though we are still linked with all and sundry, there has been no movement. To be honest, with the money we've spent in the last 3 seasons, I can see why Levy is being quite reserved.
After reading that our owner, Mr. Lewis, has bought up a large stake in the Mitchell’s & Butler pub group, I had hoped that he would swing some of his cash our way. Wishful thinking? Course it was.
So it got me thinking. How would I feel if a rich somebody came into the picture and had the will and the way to sign up as much talent as possible? If we had the same sort of cash as Manchester City do and we went in for the players they've signed, do you think Gareth Barry would have picked them over us? What about Tevez? Would he have come to us instead?
It's all relative I suppose.
The good news is that our club is run properly. We are the richest club in the world never to have played in the Champions League. I'm not too sure if that's something we should be bragging about, but never mind.
I suppose that with the outlay the City owners have spent, they will want results and fast. Wanting results normally means a higher turnover in managers, which we've all seen at Chelsea (and us), simply doesn't work.
So am I happy with our current regime? Funnily enough, I am. I'd take our business model over the Manchester City one. I also wish them the best of luck in the world in dislodging Arsenal from the 4th spot perch. I think they'll need our well wishes as money can't buy luck.

But to be honest, if you have aspirations to break into the top four and win things on a consistent basis then you need money and a lot of it. The top four have invested over a long period of time and the champions league money keeps them above everyone else.
Manchester City were founded years before your crettin jewish club.
We City have a bigger history than Spurs will ever have.
Get a life, you all know you would welcome an owner like ours without even blinking.
I'd rather spend massive and win the league and cl than be stuck in a groundhog day of transition seasons. If other teams critisize us and hate us, so be it.
You say you prefer the way your club is being run, our new owners are running our club extremely well and I don't just mean player wise. They are putting hard work into every department.
As for the money aspect, fans who say that money isn't everything and they don't like the idea of it are just jealous. If it happened to their club they would love it.
We all know we could've finished 5th based upon results under Harry so we don't need a major overhaul in order to get european football again and i think it'll only be from there that we can look towards the champions league.
So as a summary I'd rather have Harry for the next 5 seasons and see him improve us year after year than get money in and see us spend it all on "names" and see Harry gone by January cos it hasn't worked.
look whos talking!
To spurs fans we are not all like that idiot and I will apologise on his behalf.
It's easy to think that all foriegn owners are exactly the same as Abramovich, but the general consensus was that Hughes wouldn't see out 2008 when we were taken over, and he's still here. The chairman has a lot of faith in him, and I genuinely think he'll be given the time it takes to get it right.
Thanks for the well wishes. Any team trying to break the top four is fine by me. :P
Two points i do have, and i'm by no means trying to be argumentative here, or anything of that nature, i've nothing against Spurs, but...
1) How much are your owners worth? Isn't Lewis a billionaire? How much is Levy worth? You're hardly paupers.
2) City's big spending is merely trying to put together a side in a shorter timeframe. I've just looked at your transfers, around £240m gross over the last five seasons trying to break the top four. We've spent around £130m since the takeover, when our objectives changed significantly. Of course, both figures are obscene, but we're trying to do in two years what normally might take four or five.
Each club has a band of idiots who claim they support it. Trueblue fits into that category.
Manchester City Defencive Transfer Update: Lucio a No Go
says it all really!
Supporting a club was always about a long term commitment, hoping that they'd be able to get to the top through their own means. At the moment, it just comes down to whoever is bought by the richest person. Where's the fun in that?
I definitely won't be as interested if Spurs get bought out by rich foreigners... For spurs more than most, it's all about tradition and flair. That's what seperates spurs, and that's why i'm a fan.
On the plus side, at least it was City that got bought, and not some other teams...
The players were not all local, but they always stayed for years, unless they didn't fit in, and so 'belonged'.
Whilst the odd foreign player is an interesting addition (Ardiles, Klinnsmann), I don't like having so many as they never stay very long and do NOT 'belong'.
It was bad enough having Ramos, who was not likely to stay long term and I would NOT welcome a wealthy foreign owner, as that would be the last straw. The club would no longer belong to the local area and its fans, and I would stop supporting (after 43 years!).
It would be fantastic for a club to slowly develop a team that can consistently challenge for the top honours but due to the additional Champs League money, the gulf is so wide for the other teams that the only realistic way to do it these days is to throw a load of money at it.
When a team slowly develops, the bigger more established teams always poach your best players and then it's back to square one again.
I'd love to see the current "Top 4" replaced by City, Spurs, Villa and Everton.
The money we are spending is only allowing us to catch up with the teams who have become to see the CL income as theirs forever.
As for trueblue he should change his name to true moron.
Is that the only aspect that you can bring up where mc 'beat' spurs!?
I dont think a Sheikh at Spurs would be a go-er - not with all the Jews in the boardroom a la Lord Sugar etc...
The quiet truth is that we do have billions in ENIC, they've just decided after 3/4 years being the premiership's top summer spenders that they actually CAN'T buy a place in the Top 4. So suddenly there's a cap on the old dosharoo.
First of all, the article did not bash your team. If anything, the author even wished you luck at the end. Spurs fans would be the happiest in the world to see the ARSE removed from the heavily sought-after top 4 spots. We would be the first to cheer you on as you dethrone them. So don't hate; don't show your face in a Spurs blog and talk gibberish; have a little class and reply like a Man City fan should: with a mouthful of humble pie when addressing a larger team than yours!
SPURS!!!!!!!!!!!
SPURS!!!!!!!
As the Spurs fans can see from the comments on this blog, City fans, on the whole, are very knowledgeable (Trueblue not included).
I was simply implying the fact that money doesn't always bring success. If the ADUG (Abu Dhabi United Group) keep Mark Hughes through thick and thin, you will be champions of England for a long time.
I am not implying this because you'll have money on your side, but because I think Mark Hughes is a top top manager.
Saying this though, what happens if they pull out? I don't think anyone can say that they won't for certain. That's why I personally prefer the system implemented by Spurs.
I think that our board has made countless mistakes. Let's hope that they have learnt from them.
