"Harry will go all out to get Joe Cole"

Football agent, Barry Silkman, made that outrageous statement on Five Live.

When asked if he had any information to share on the matter, the agent didn't comment. He did go on to say, "I know Harry loves Joey Cole and he'll do whatever it takes to take him to Spurs."

Harry's been looking for a left sided player that can slot into his midfield and Cole can be that player."

Now, if this story is even half accurate, I'd be happy. Knowing Barry though, it's best to believe less than half of what comes out of his mouth.

One of the other pundits on the show questioned Joe Cole's fitness, stating that he's still recovering from his injury.

Recovering or not, I hope Harry snaps him up if he is to become available, although I can't see Chelsea letting him go.

  1. would be nice, but lets give the young ones ago. If anyone has been watching the gold cup you would of seen a young lad by the name of Giovanni Do santos is by far the player of the Mexican squad and they are playing USA in the final. This kid is imo the player of the tournament thus far.

  13. For me, I like the look of Danny Rose. Looks like a great talent.
  14. Danny Rose should be given a chance, and I can see that happening if there are injuries.

    Newcastle aren't selling anyone at the moment until Mr. Ashley (a massive Spurs fan btw) sells the club.

    So that'll be a no to Martins and to Bassong.

  16. With the likes of Dos Santos, Townsend, Rose, Bostock who are all left footed, still on our books. Should we not be letting some of that talent have a go on our left flank?

  18. Townsend looks a def in a year or two, I am not sure about Rose, he did get a run out last night but i have heard he is going on loan to sheff utd this season. No to Cole for the left side as he is right footed, a good player though. We need height at the moment. I am keeping my fingers crossed for huntelaar and hopefully bassong. Drenthe wouldnt be bad either but i fear there will only be one major signing this year. I notice Bentley wasnt in the squad last night I assume he is gone.

    Ok, I've read that through twice...and I still have no idea WTF it means. I think it's suggesting we sign OFM for the left wing and Bassong for defence...if so, I make it half right.

    Bentley has a torn thigh muscle, he will be out for 3-4 weeks!
    Bentley is class I don't know why he doesn't play, if we sign huntelaar, bentley had to play right wing with his ability!!!!
  21. Bentley may be a decent player, but for some reason, the task of him playing for Spurs has messed up his psychology.

  22. I see so many spurs supporters moaning about not giving the younger players a chance and then when we need some cover for a position there are many suggestions of who to bring in. You cant have it both ways!!- I say give the kids a chance - last night only looked good when they came onto the pitch. There is enough talent there Harry - you can save the club a lot of money by using them.

  27. If it is feasible then yes, but I hope we do not waste time or resources going after him. Our main priorities should be a centre-half and a striker to replace Bent (when he does leave). I have a feeling once we sort out the Huntelaar situation all the other pieces will fall into place. Bent goes to Sunderland and Crouch will goto Fulham. It seems like everyone is waiting on us.

    Yes a left-sided midfield is a priority but we have players who can play there and I'd prefer we utilise what we have already have. Bale, O' Hara, Giovani, Rose and Modric can play there and spending money upon money isn't the solution.
  28. I agree, a centre back should be the main priorty as we have cover for the left, we have 4 strikers and whether we like it or not Bent scored goals. Its only worth selling if you get a better player to replace him.
    Huntelaar would be great but Kuyt was supposed to be the best thing and now plays as a winger.
  29. all we need to do is first, sell keane. then we need to buy 2 players, IMO they should be wheater/huth/bassong and tuncay sanli. we dont need a left midfielder cuz thats what bale is and he should be starting left mid every game. we need a left BACK more than a left mid.

    I agree with other contributors' comments re: utilising our squad rather than wasting money on over-priced players. I fear that the Dutch players available from Real Madrid are far too mercenary and are chasing the £/euro rather than looking to play football. Our youngsters must be chomping at the bit to pull on the Spurs shirt. Let's play them!
  31. Some people on here ain't got a clue. Lets face it if we want a serious season we need new faces and I'm not talking about our youngsters (even if I think gio dos santos is the next ronaldo) i hope our tranfer shortlist looks like this.

  34. why not go for a younger joe cole. adam johnson from middlesborough will cost bout 8-15m but his wages wont be no where near as high as joes. he is class and young and can cut it
  35. Danny Rose gets my vote as well.... He came on against Barca and was a proper pain in the @ss for them... He's quick, confident and he takes players on...also has a decent final ball...

Who needs Cole when we, IMHO, already have plenty of options: Giovani (I hope Harry's taking notice of his Gold Cup appearances), Bale, Rose, Livermore, all of whom are young and competent, potentially great. Right-footed Lennon also looked good there, and it was perhaps Modric's most successful position with Spurs, in a more free role..

  41. Yeah...some of our youngsters are looking really good right now. I read that Crouch seems like a done deal for 10 million pounds. That will add a bit of strength and variety to our attack...although I'm torn between him and Huntelaar. GIO should be given a chance in the second part of the season. He needs a little bit more time to develop to premier league heights in my opinion, but he'll be the answer to our left sided problem for sure.

    Spurs to finish between 5 and 6th this year. We're improving alot.
  42. Players like Rose, Bostock even Gio are never gonna last a full season, can you see these players lasting against the likes of the Top 3 in the latter stages of the season ??...no.

    We need established players like Joe Cole because they will be 1st choice. The youngsters are strictly backup or for cup games. Get real you lot...BTW I think Distin is a very good shout for CB cover, I hope Villa don't land him.

    Re: Crouch, the question you need to be asking yourselves: "Is Crouch any better than a fully fit and fully motivated Pavylchencko (spelling) ?" I know Crouch likes to play alongside Defoe but the jury's still out on him being successful...

    a new centre back as king cant play more the 15 Pl games, bentley was the best since sliced at blackburn give the lad a chance to change things around,and use the youth coming through if there to get any experience.

Spurs have to be odds on favourites for the drop after being humiliated by celtics reserves,some people say the spl is the same level as league 1 so what would the reserves be like!? league2??? tottenham is a joke of a club and all you spuds deserve each other!!!! happy relegation fight this season.
