talkSPORT announce Spurs are close to Crouch & Bentley signings

talkSPORT radio have announced that Tottenham Hotspur are very close to signing Peter Crouch from Liverpool, and David Bentley from Blackburn.

The UK national sports station has stated that sources close to them have said that Spurs are "extremely close to signing Peter Crouch as part of the transfer that will take Robbie Keane the other way".

They also stated that "Tottenham Hotspur are about to announce the signing of David Bentley from Blackburn".
After all the rubbish that's been circulating recently, I'll believe it when I see it.
If anyone has any other info on the talkSPORT exclusive, please let us know.

He has nearly scored asmany goals as Berbatov in the last two seasons. And he has always made it clear that he wants to stay at spurs, and maybe finsh there.     Keane had the best goals to minutes played record in the whole league in the 2006/07 season and even though he has an immense work rate, has been amongst the highest goalscorers in the league for the past 2-3 seasons.

    I have it on good authority that Crouch will be heading to Spurs this summer. Keane however will not be part of any deal and will also remain at WHL next season. The only player who will be sanctioned to leave your club will be Berbatov with Manchester United apparently extremely keen. Spurs are willing to pay in the region of £11m and Crouch prefers WHL to Portsmouth as his destination.

    I'm not a Spurs or Liverpool fan and really have no reason to make this up although having read enough of these sort of post in the past I would probably be scepticle as well.

    I was made aware of this last Thursday buy a Director of a well known company that I deal with who are heavily involved in a Spurs marketing campaign. I guess only time will tell though!!

For some reason and i dont know why i think we have already signed David Villa but he didnt want the deal announced before the Euro's. Villa and Keano are very similar players and probably wouldnt be very effective in the same team (both drop deep and arent lone strikers). Therefore this signing of Crouch for Keano, would be to make way for Villa.

Your recent signings look very good. In particular, many of us Liverpool fans wanted Modric and Dos Santos.     My personal opinion on Crouch is that I have been very frustrated at folk referring to him as 'crap' - I have always said it he is a competent top half Premiership player; but, IMHO, not a top four player. In present circumstances, then, I would expect him to be not quite good enough for Liverpool, but, probably, if Ramos feels so, capable of doing a job at Spurs. But surely, if he has only 1 year left on his contract, his fee shuold be less.
    As far as Keane is concerned: I am not being sentimental, I just feel that Ramos has set himself the task of rectifying the defence, insofar as he could, in january; and the midfield, in so far as he can, this summer. That requires some kind of stability. If he achived this and then next year announced that he was selling Keane to buy someone more suited to the stle of play he envisaged then goodbye and goodluck Keano.
