What do you make of the Woodgate signing?

As you are probably aware, Spurs have signed former Middlesbrough centre-back, Jonathan Woodgate for an undisclosed fee believed to be around £7 million.

I strongly believe that if Jonathan can remain fit, he will form an absolutely mouth-watering centre-back partnership alongside our captain, Ledley King; after all, both defenders are probably the best in England at reading the game.

Woodgate also offers a wealth of experience and quality to our squad. I also love the fact that we beat Arsenal to the signing of Woodgate. All that rubbish about Wenger not being interested! What a load of rubbish! He made those remarks after being told that Jonathan Woodgate was definitely Spurs bound. Why can that man never stare defeat in the face?

Anyway, what do you make of the signing? Hopefully, Michael Dawson will learn a lot more by following Ledders and Jon's lead.

Great signing by us. He's definitely the kind of defender we've been crying out for for a long time now.

Read it an weep Wenger!

Super signing! He speaks fluent Spanish too, so he'll be able to communicate with Ramos far better, which is a good thing.

How fit is he though? Will he play against Everton?

You're back then eh? Where have you been hiding THBN? When is this new site going to come along?

It's all part of a conspiracy!

PS. Woodgate is shit

It really is great to have another world-class center back.

Dawson wont get a sniff now though

Horray!

Comolli has finally done something right (if it was Comolli that decided to sign him that is).

I didn't know the lad spoke the old espanyol though. Where did you hear that Tony 1030?

He's a bit of a sort actually. He does speak fluent Spanish too.

I heard an interview with him, conducted entirely in Spanish when he was with Real Madrid.

He's a great passer of the ball too.

Still developing the site unfortunately (actually, we've stopped development for the time being, but will commence shortly).

Woodgate does speak Spanish.

Harry Hotspur has said that Chimbonda will leave. He apparently made the following comments;

"Kevin Keegan has approached me and they've offered me more money. "

"I am definitely leaving Spurs. It's all about the money. I don't care about the final, I don't care about the cup."

What a plum. Can woodgate play as a rightback?

Cheers for the reply Poshspur.

Has to be the signing of the transfer window. Only £8 million for a player of his class?

Okay, so he's been hit with injuries, but I am sure that he's recovered now, or Senor Ramos wouldn't have made a move for him.

Great buy!

Dawson will still get loads of games. Remember, Ledley King cant play more than one game a week, which means that Dawson will get to line up with Woody.

Best signing by Comolli yet, considering the greats (Berba and co.) were done deals prior to Comollis arrival. He has had a lot to prove following Arnesons departure and this is a step in the right direction following the dismal signings of Boateng and Kaboul who haven't fulfilled their hype (even if it was "self-styled"). The coup makes it much greater over arch-rivals Arsenal, but Woodgate is a proud and loyal man and when a club makes it their distinct ambition to offer him guarenteed first-team football and their highest paid player, you can't turn that down as a player.

Does the signing of Jonathan Woodgate spell the end for Younes Kaboul?

I think it does. After all, when King couldn't play in yesterdays game, Huddlestone was the preferred replacement, and not Kaboul.

I am sure he'll be off back to France for around £3 million in the summer. great work Comolli!!!

"IF" he can stay fit, he is a top notch signing, we've needed another class centreback for well years.

Karen, THFC Yiddo said...

You're right Bobby. And at only £7 million. That's a snip!

Some reports have said that he'll either play or be on the bench in tomorrows away fixture with Everton.

I hope to see him.

theres no doubt that potentialy we now have arguably the best centre half partnership in the premiership, the problem with king and woodgate though is for everyone to see. besides, we still need that 1 world class midfielder!

I don't think Woody will play tomorrow as Ramos is the kind of coach who never rushes injured players back, no matter what the consequence.

I know many of you will say that Ledley seemed to return too quickly, but I can assure you that Ramos never rushes his star players back.

I am not understanding why you do not give Teemu a run in the Tottenham team more often.

He has showed to you that he can play a very inportant part in the midfield.

We love him here in Finalnd and hope to see him play more for Tottenham Hotspur

Of course Dawson will be be more in the team than out, because Woodgate will be on the treatment table more than King. We are spending a lot of money on someone who's so injury prone.

PoshSpur said...

Do you honestly believe that Ramos would sanction the purchase of a player that would be a high risk?

Please remember, Jonathan Woodgate passed the Spurs medical. If there was a slight doubt that there would be a problem with the player, the club would have pulled the plug.

didn't he beat up an Asian onyl due to his race?
or has the story changed now that he joined our Tottenham?

how was berba n that done deals he only came last season frank da wank was long gone most people talk absolute shite about comolli, seriously wtf
your parents need to monitor your internet usage more carefully me thinks mug

Really worried about King - is he really getting better?

Why is everyone bigging Ramos up on this signing?? Isn't the ex-Arse scout responsible for identifing and signing players after consulting the commitee or has the Spurs structured suddenly changed?????

Don't get me wrong, Woody's class and Ramos will bring success but let's not get all misty eye and talk shite

Dont read the Daily Mail. It's a shit paper.

Ledley King's knee hasnt gone awol. The club are bringing him back slowly, thats all. Dont read too much into the Woodgate signing.
