The Daily Mail and other media have stated that Portsmouth's left sided midfielder, Matthew Taylor, has been strongly linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur. The reported fee is in the region of £8 million.
If these rumours are true, do you feel that spending £8 million on Taylor would be a good bit of business? Taylor can play on the left wing, on the left of midfield or as a left wing-back.
I feel that signing a left sided midfielder should have been the clubs priority as we have lacked a left sided midfielder/winger since Ginola graced the White Hart Lane pitch.
And if true, does the £8 million price tag sound a bit steep? If the board and Martin Jol are serious about the player and serious enough to spend £8 million (or there abouts) who am I to argue?

A Bitter Beginning
Article by Paul Mortimer
After a poor display against Sunderland, Tottenham Hotspur yet again produced a dismal display in front of its own fans on Tuesday against Everton, the team who many claim will be pushing us for a 5th (or higher) placed standing come the end of the season.
The Guardian has stated that Martin Jol was asked to explain the two defeats to Spurs chairman, Daniel Levy. If this is true, I believe the conversation was only to encourage Jol and not ask him for explanations as to why the team are performing so badly.
Mr. Levy wouldn't have sanctioned near on £40 million in transfers in the close season, only to start asking questions of his manager two games into the season.
I believe that we, the fans, also should get behind Martin Jol and the team. Martin will turn things around, and I believe the turn around will happen against Derby on Saturday.
Even though Kaboul and Berbatov have been ruled out, Spurs do have the mental strength to overcome their recent downturn in fortunes. We must not start looking to place the blame on someones head. I know it's tough, but turning on the manager just after only two games is absurd.
The media knows that the Spurs fans are extremely inpatient and have already started their crazed talk about who will manage Tottenham Hotspur after Jol has been sacked. We mustn't allow ourselves to be engulfed in the media hype.
Get behind the team, support Spurs and especially Martin Jol.
This bitter beginning will end soon. The injured players will return, and Spurs will start gain results.
